Between October 18–21, this website will move to a new web address (from health.gov to odphp.health.gov). During that time, some functions might not work as expected. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we’re working to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Next Steps for the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee Appointment

DGA Logo

The Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture (USDA) appreciate all the individuals and organizations that submitted nominations to serve on the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (Committee). We recognize the effort that went into each submission and are thankful to our partners for helping to promote this opportunity to a diverse group of qualified candidates.

HHS and USDA reviewed all the nominations packages and are working to select a diverse group of scientific experts. Proposed candidates will be reviewed by Department leadership, including an ethics review, before the Secretaries of HHS and USDA jointly appoint the Committee.

What’s Next?

Our goal is to appoint the Committee in early 2023. Once appointed and sworn in, the Committee will begin its review of the scientific evidence on nutrition and health across the lifespan. The Committee will gather approximately six times during their appointment for public meetings. Once the scientific report is completed and submitted by the Committee, HHS and USDA will begin the process to develop the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines.

There will be more opportunities to be involved in the process throughout the Committee’s work. To learn more visit DietaryGuidelines.gov.
