Enhancing Use of Clinical Preventive Services Among Older Adults

This report highlights gaps in the use of preventive services among older adults. It provides state and national self-reported data for adults age 65 and older who aren’t getting recommended services. The report offers 8 indicators for monitoring older adults’ use of preventive services:

  • 2 vaccinations for flu and pneumococcal disease 
  • 5 screenings for early detection of breast cancer, colorectal cancer, diabetes, lipid disorders, and osteoporosis 
  • 1 counseling service for smoking cessation

The report also provides examples of activities and interventions focused on increasing the use of preventive services in diverse communities.
