Communities, states, organizations, health care providers, public health professionals, and community leaders across the country use Healthy People evidence-based resources (EBRs) to support and inform their work — and you can, too. EBRs are helpful for people who are working to improve the health of communities and individuals — like by planning and implementing programs and policies, applying for grants, providing clinical guidance, conducting research, or teaching people about health topics. Learn about the practical ways EBRs can help you improve health and well-being through your work.
Why should I use EBRs?
EBRs can help you address public health priorities that you’ve identified in your work. You can use EBRs to identify specific interventions and actions that have been scientifically assessed on whether they produce the desired change. EBRs are rigorous reviews of the available scientific studies and literature and have been vetted and recommended by national subject matter experts who are leaders in their fields. In addition, EBRs provide information that’s credible and applicable to many types of work, and they include specific interventions for both clinical and community implementation.

How do I find EBRs related to my work?
We’ve organized the EBRs by topic, and we’ve linked many EBRs to specific Healthy People 2030 objectives as well. That means you can find EBRs that are relevant to your work by browsing the various EBR topics or by looking at specific objectives. You can also use the site’s search tool.
By topic
To find EBRs related to a particular topic, start by selecting Browse Evidence-Based Resources in the Tools for Action section at the top of the page. You’ll see a list of topics, organized into 5 groups: health conditions, health behaviors, populations, settings and systems, or social determinants of health. Select a topic, and you’ll see a list of EBRs related to that topic.

You can start by selecting Browse Objectives in the Objectives and Data section at the top of the page. Next, select the topic you’re interested in, and you’ll be taken to a page about that topic. On the page, you’ll see a list of objectives related to the topic.
Select the objective you’re interested in, and you’ll see an overview page. If there are EBRs related to the objective, you’ll see an Evidence-Based Resources tab on the left side of your screen. Select this tab to see a list of EBRs.
Note: Not all objectives have related EBRs, but we’ll add new EBRs to the site throughout the decade — so check back for additions.
