This report details the proceedings of a 2017 workshop that addressed how to improve patient navigation services for people with cancer. Patient navigation services are community-based service delivery interventions that promote access to timely diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other chronic diseases by eliminating barriers to care. The workshop involved a broad range of experts and contributors who identified:
- Which patients need navigation services
- Who should serve as patient navigators
- The benefits of patient navigation services and current gaps in its evidence base
