The Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) Expanded Model is a structured behavior change intervention intended to prevent type 2 diabetes in people with prediabetes who have Medicare. MDPP consists of at least 16 class sessions that provide practical training about healthy eating, physical activity, and other strategies for weight control over 6 months. After these sessions, participants attend less intensive monthly meetings. The expanded model has a goal of at least 5 percent weight loss for participants.
