In this Cochrane systematic review, the Cochrane Collaborative found that national government initiatives can potentially reduce salt intake across populations especially if the initiatives use multiple strategies, including structural ones. These interventions include things like implementing public information campaigns, adding nutrition information on food packaging, and changing food products so they have less salt. Researchers found that interventions may be particularly effective in men.
