The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends the hepatitis A vaccine for:
- Children ages 12 to 23 months
- Children and adolescents ages 2 to 18 years who haven’t previously been vaccinated
- At-risk adults and adults who request protection, even if they do not have a risk factor
The recommendations also offer guidance for these circumstances:
- Vaccination before travel
- Prevention of disease after exposure to hepatitis A
- Prevention of hepatitis A in settings where services are provided to adults
- Steps to take during outbreaks of hepatitis A
