Summary
Many people with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia don’t know about their diagnosis — and their caregivers may also be unaware. That means they’re less likely to get treatment and the information they need to help them understand their disease and plan for the future. Strategies to increase the number of people with dementia who know they have it can lead to earlier treatment and lower medical costs.
