Summary
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common type of heart disease. Although the death rate from CHD has gone down in recent years, disparities by sex, race/ethnicity, and geographic location remain. Strategies to lower the risk of developing CHD, like controlling blood pressure, can reduce CHD deaths.
