Methodology notes
Congestive heart failure ICD-10-CM codes included: I09.81, I11.0, I13.0, I13.2, I50.1-I50.4, I50.8-I50.9. Excluded cases with missing sex, and those transferred in from a different acute care hospital or another type of health facility.
Age-adjustment notes
This indicator uses Age-Adjustment Groups:
- Total: 18-44, 45-64, 65-74, 75+
- Sex: 18-44, 45-64, 65-74, 75+
- Geographic location: 18-44, 45-64, 65-74, 75+
History
In 2022, the baseline was revised from 355.2 to 366.9 due to a change in exclusion criteria. Heart failure cases with missing data on race or discharge quarter were originally excluded, but are now included. The target was revised from 319.7 to 330.2 using the original target setting method.
