Data
Baseline: 5.1 cases of primary and secondary syphilis per 100,000 females aged 15 to 44 years were reported in 2017
Numerator
Number of reported cases of primary and secondary syphilis among females aged 15 to 44 years.
Denominator
Number of females aged 15 to 44 years.
Target-setting method
Percent improvement
Target-setting method details
10 percent improvement from the baseline.
Target-setting method justification
Trend data were evaluated for this objective, but it was not possible to project a target because the trend was moving away from the desired direction. A 10 percent improvement from the baseline was used to calculate a target. This method was used because of the influence of external factors.
History
Comparable HP2020 objective
Modified, which includes core objectives that are continuing from Healthy People 2020 but underwent a change in measurement.
Changes between HP2020 and HP2030
This objective differs from Healthy People 2020 objective STD-7.1 in that the Healthy People 2020 objective focused on reducing the rate of primary and secondary syphilis in females of all ages. For Healthy People 2030, the age group has been narrowed to focus on females of reproductive age (15- 44 years), as that is the target population to prevent congenital syphilis.
