Status: Improving
Increase the proportion of Medicare beneficiaries who have a follow-up evaluation of their kidney function 3 months after a hospitalization with acute kidney injury
Data Source: United States Renal Data System (USRDS), NIH/NIDDK
Summary
People with acute kidney injury are at risk for developing chronic kidney disease (CKD). And if people with CKD develop acute kidney injury, their CKD is likely to get worse. Evidence suggests that patients who develop acute kidney injury while hospitalized are at risk for developing end-stage kidney disease.
