Most data sources used for Healthy People 2030 objectives meet rigorous criteria. For example, they:
- Have valid, reliable, nationally representative data
- Have baseline data from no earlier than 2015 and a measure of variability (if applicable)
- Can provide at least 2 additional data points throughout the decade
- Have federal government management or oversight
- Are publicly available
The large majority of data sources meet these criteria. But based on mitigating factors like national importance of the topic, we also use a few sources that don’t fully meet the criteria. Learn more about the criteria for Healthy People 2030 data sources.
